Welcome to Sherwood Park Primary School and Nursery- where every child is known, valued and inspired to achieve their very best. We are delighted that you are considering joining our school family.

As a small community school, our strong family ethos means every child is known by name and celebrated as an individual. Sherwood Park Primary is a warm, friendly learning environment where everyone is caring, thoughtful and welcoming. There is a genuine sense of community here, where parents, carers, teachers and families work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for our children.

Our wonderful children are at the heart of everything we do. They are kind, curious, respectful and enthusiastic learners who support one another and take real pride in their school.

Our school

Sherwood Park Primary is currently a two-form entry primary school with a Nursery class. From September 2028, we will become a one-form entry school with a Nursery class, allowing us to strengthen even further the personalised, family atmosphere that our community values so highly.

As part of the Penhill Academy Trust (PAT), our partnership with Blackfen Girls School, Hurstmere School for Boys, Bexley Grammar School and Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School gives us access to excellent secondary school resources and facilities. All our pupils are guaranteed secondary school places at our two non-selective schools, Blackfen and Hurstmere. 

Our commitment to inclusive education

Inclusion is at the heart of everything that we do. Supporting a higher proportion of pupils with SEND than the national and local average has strengthened our teaching practices and created a compassionate, accepting school community that benefits all children. Our staff are highly skilled in adaptive teaching, ensuring every child receives the support they need to succeed.

Our 8-place resource provision supports children diagnosed with ASD who have an Educational Health and Care Plan. Please note: our resource provision is currently full and we don't anticipate any places becoming available until 2029. The local authority allocates places based on individual children's needs. Beyond our specialist provision, all children with SEND in our mainstream classes receive committed support, ensuring every child can thrive in our school community.

Our facilities

Our amazing grounds are a real asset to the school. Children enjoy two playing fields, three large playgrounds, an allotment, forest school area, a wildlife area with a pond, and specialist rooms for music, art and computing.

Continually improving our learning environment is important to us. Three years ago, we invested in a brand new EYFS playground to enhance our early years provision. Over the last four years, we've successfully secured £2 million in government funding (Condition Improvement Fund) to transform our school environment. This significant investment has enhanced safety and modernised our facilities with new fire doors, improved lighting throughout the school, upgraded plumbing systems, secure fencing and gates, modern exit doors and a comprehensive CCTV system.

Our curriculum

Inspiring learning opportunities in a nurturing environment are what we're all about. Our broad, exciting curriculum sparks curiosity and develops an enquiring mind about the world. Children learn through engaging, hands-on experiences - from growing vegetables in our allotment to exploring nature in our forest school, from performing in school productions to competing in sporting events.

As a GOLD Rights Respecting School (UNICEF UK), children's rights underpin everything we do. Every child feels valued, heard and empowered to participate actively in their school and community. Our Platinum School Games Mark recognises our outstanding PE and sport provision, ensuring all children develop physical literacy and have opportunities to compete, challenge themselves and excel.

Through our curriculum, children gain the knowledge, skills and values they need to enjoy life, succeed and have real choices in their adult lives. Every child is empowered to reach their full potential.
